Connect AI agents

Sunrise exposes a remote MCP server so AI agents can read and update your tasks on your behalf — using the same permissions as your account.

MCP server URL

EnvironmentURL
Productionhttps://app.getsunrise.today/mcp
Local devhttp://localhost:5173/mcp

Cursor

  1. Open Settings → Agents in Sunrise and copy the MCP URL or Cursor JSON snippet.
  2. In Cursor, add an MCP server with that URL (remote HTTP transport).
  3. When Cursor connects, your browser opens Sunrise — sign in with Google and approve the agent on the consent screen.

Example configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sunrise": {
      "url": "https://app.getsunrise.today/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop supports remote MCP servers via mcp-remote:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sunrise": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["mcp-remote", "https://app.getsunrise.today/mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Complete the OAuth flow in your browser when prompted.

MCP Inspector (local testing)

npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector@latest

Open the inspector UI and connect to http://localhost:5173/mcp. Sign in with Dev Gmail on localhost if Google OAuth is not configured.

Available tools

Agents can call tools such as:

  • whoami — your user, workspace, and linked Google accounts
  • list_teams, list_projects, get_project — browse your workspace
  • list_tasks, get_task — read tasks (Today, Upcoming, or by project)
  • list_comments read task comments and find comment IDs
  • create_comment, update_comment, delete_comment add comments and edit or delete your own comments
  • create_task, update_task, complete_task, reopen_task, delete_task — manage tasks (including energy: 1 Low, 2 Medium, 4 High, or null to clear)

Adding, editing, and deleting comments require at least commenter access to the task; editing and deletion are limited to your own comments. Comment bodies must contain 14,000 characters and cannot be blank.

Writes require the mcp:write scope and respect project sharing roles (viewers cannot create tasks).

Revoke access

Open Settings → Agents in Sunrise and click Revoke next to any connected agent.
