Work with Rei
Connect Grok Bot to assign work to Rei or chat in task comments.
Work with Rei
Rei is your workspace’s AI assistant. Each workspace connects one provider at a time. Grok Bot is the first supported provider; the assistant’s name is always Rei.
Connect Grok Bot
You need workspace owner or admin access and a Grok Bot with webhook routines.
- Open Settings → Agents in Sunrise.
- Expand Grok routine instructions and copy the instructions.
- Ask your Grok Bot to create a webhook routine using those instructions.
- Open the saved routine on desktop. Copy its webhook URL and key into Sunrise.
- Click Connect Rei, then Test connection.
The connection test sends a test event that the routine instructions tell Rei to ignore. An accepted test confirms delivery, not that a task has been completed. See the Grok Bot routine documentation for locating the webhook URL and key.
Assign work to Rei
Choose Rei in an open task’s assignee picker. Sunrise sends the task to your connected bot. You need permission to edit the task.
Rei reports progress and results in task comments. When it succeeds, Sunrise leaves the task open and assigns it back to its creator for review. Editing the title or notes does not start another run.
Chat with Rei
In any task in the connected workspace, type @Rei, choose Rei from the suggestions, and post your question. You need workspace membership and permission to comment on the task.
Rei receives the task’s title, notes, dates, and non-deleted comments. It answers in the same comment thread. A mention requests an answer only: it does not authorize execution, change the assignee, or complete the task. Mention Rei again for a follow-up.
Handle interrupted runs
Task details show queued, working, awaiting reply, finished, failed, or cancelled runs. Requests run in order within each task; a run awaiting a reply does not block a new chat question.
If a run fails, use Retry Rei. A delivery timeout can mean the bot already received the request, so check its conversation before retrying. Runs expire after one hour.
Changing assignment or completing a task cancels outstanding execution. Disconnecting or replacing the provider invalidates outstanding runs. Sunrise cannot stop actions the bot has already started outside Sunrise.
Past Rei comments remain visible after disconnecting. New mentions and assignments become available when an admin reconnects Rei.
